Something that washed ashore on Victoria’s southwest coast resembles a “alien creature.”

Strange creatures sometimes drift ashore, making more people curious about the mysteries of the ocean floor.

The incident happened at the mouth of the Kennett River on the southwest coast of Victoria, Australia. The couple Cath Rampton and Tom while walking, suddenly discovered a strange, huge-sized creature lying on the sand.

Although both husband and wife are veterinarians, they both admit that they have never seen the creature. Accordingly, the animal has a length and width of approximately 2m, a strange appearance like an alien monster.

“We were taking a walk and we saw a large mass lying in the sand. Frequently visit this area, but this is the first time I have seen it,” said Tom.

According to the researchers, the creature the couple saw was an Ocean Sunfish. This is a fish that can reach an average length of 2.5m and weigh up to hundreds of kg. They can grow to 3m in length and 4.2m in width, reaching a weight of about 2.5 tons.

These are creatures of the vulnerable group in the wild, so finding them is a very special thing.

Ralph Foster, a fish collector from the South Australian museum, previously explained why so many moonfish are washed up on the beach: “One of the biggest reasons is that they get hit by large ships at sea. This fish also often dies when eating a plastic bag because it is mistaken for a jellyfish.”

Foster said he receives several reports of fish washing up on the coast of South Australia each year. “They’re actually quite common in Australian waters, but they’re usually concentrated far out in the ocean.”

Moonfish are found in tropical seas around the world and are often confused with sharks due to their fins. This fish is considered a delicacy in some parts of Asia including Japan , Korea and Taiwan.
